Sierra Bailey (Allen) was a close friend of mine in high school. On April 8, 2023, I found out from a former classmate of ours that she passed away from a brain aneurysm at the age of 30. Even though we had drifted apart from each other as adults, I still remember many of the good times that we had together and find myself missing her from time to time.
She would always have a smile on her face and one time kept me from a rather embarrassing situation by scrubbing my face after I let someone put make up on me on the bus ride to school that day. Sierra was a well known bookworm who loved nothing more in high school than to shove books in my chest and exclaim “You HAVE to read this book!” As an adult that love of books continued. Her grandmother told me at her memorial service that they had purchased a ticket to see the world’s largest bookstore in Oregon before Sierra’s untimely death and her husband and brother in law told me about her huge library of books. A friend of hers even mentioned about how she was not someone you could leave unsupervised in a bookstore unless you wanted her to walk out with as many books as she could carry. She also loved to play board games and to crochet and knit things for others. Her generosity and love for others knew no bounds even in death as she selflessly donated her many of her organs and tissues to those who needed them most.
I would love to continue Sierra’s generosity and kindness by creating a memorial scholarship in her honor for young adults who best showed her qualities and personality. There’s one major hurdle however, and that would be raising enough funds to do so. That’s where this page comes in. If you feel drawn to help me in my mission of creating a scholarship in Sierra’s honor, please consider donating today!
